2010 Cape Breton Regional Library KnitFit Knit-a-thon
Was Saturday, February 20th, 2010 - 10am to 5pm
McConnell
Library, Sydney and Baddeck Library, Baddeck

KnitFit is a
community fundraiser and charitable event which is generally held annually
at the McConnell Library in Sydney, and at the Baddeck
Library in Baddeck. Knitters and crochet afficianados of all stripes, new
or experienced, are invited to participate. Come for all or part of the
day, start a project or bring one to finish. All library branches are also
accepting donations of yarn, needles, finished items, or funds towards the
Knit-a-thon.
Donated
knitted or crocheted items and products of the knit-a-thon in Sydney will be
given to Every Women’s Centre, a charity that provides free clothes to
families in need in Cape Breton County. Goods donated and created in
Baddeck will be donated to the Victoria County branches of the NS Dept of
Community Services where they will be made available to clients in need.
Charities may change from year to year based on need.
Participants are asked to
have friends and family sponsor them, with all pledges going to support
Children’s Literacy programs at Cape Breton Regional Library branches
throughout the region. These include the Summer Reading Program, Storytime
programs for different age groups, and teen programs.
